Nelly Junior Joseph posted a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double.
THE RUNDOWN
Following a sophomore
Walter Clayton Jr. layup to knot the score at 11-11 with 13:08 on the clock in the first half, Iona went cold, missing seven straight field goal attempts and not scoring for more than six minutes. Penn only scored six points in the stretch as the Gaels held the Quakers to 3-of-7 shooting and forced three turnovers to keep the game close. Iona answered with 11 straight points in a 2:30 span to take the lead for good. After trailing by six, midway through the first, the Gaels' run over the final seven minutes of the frame was 23-4.

The run extended to start the second half as the home team scored the first 12 points. Iona scored 21 straight points from the 3:40 mark of the first half, to the 16:25 mark of the second.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
- Jenkins was 8-for-16 from the field and 1-for-2 from deep, sinking both free throw attempts. He added six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Slazinski was 6-for-16 with three three-pointers, posting five rebounds and two assists.
- Junior Joseph shot 5-for-9 and 3-for-4 from the line. He added two assists to his team-high 10 rebounds.
- Senior Berrick Jeanlouis stuffed the stat sheet with a 12-point, four-rebound, three-assist, one-block effort  .
- Clayton Jr. added nine points with four rebounds, seven assists, two steals and zero turnovers.
- Senior Osborn Shema posted five points and two blocks.
TEAM STATS
- The Gaels outshot the Quakers 40.8% - 32.7% and held their visitors to just 3-for-25 from distance. Iona connected on 8-of-25 three-point attempts.
- Iona held a 44-42 advantage with the help of a 28-20 lead in the second half.
- Penn posted 14 assists and 18 turnovers while the Gaels had 21 dimes and just five giveaways. The Maroon & Gold had just two turnovers in the second half, an early shot clock violation which nullified a potential made basket and a live-ball turn with less than a minute remaining and a 26-point lead.
- The Gaels also held significant advantages in: points the paint (40-24), second-chance points (18-2), points off turnovers (20-4) and fastbreak points (20-50).
THE OPPONENT
- The Quakers were led by Jordan Dingle's 16-point effort, with an 8-for-9 performance from the line.
- George Smith added 10 points and Max Lorca-Lloyd had nine points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
UP NEXT
Iona embarks on a three-game trip away from home over the next 24-days beginning at Hofstra Friday night. The trip continues at Mohegan Sun on Nov. 17 vs. Vermont and a date with Santa Clara in Las Vegas on Nov. 27.
