Fairfield Defeats Iona Volleyball in Three Sets

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona University volleyball team fell in three sets to Fairfield in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at the Hynes Center. The Stags took the match 25-23, 25-22 and 25-12.

IONA PERFORMERS

  • Senior Jen Soto posted a team-high 10 kill and added a block for 10.5 points.
  • Sophomore Mackenzie Wiggins recorded seven kills, eight digs and two blocks.
  • Graduate setter Samantha Juran had 23 assists and five digs.
  • Senior libero Hope Matschner had 17 digs and was 16-for-16 on serve receptions.

THE OPPONENT

  • Fairfield's Allie Elliott had 12 kills, an ace, and a block for a team-leading 14.0 points.
  • Mikayla Haut posted 10 kills and 12 digs.
  • Setter Blakely Montgomery had 19 assists and eight digs.
  • Libero Kyla Berg posted 11 digs.

UP NEXT

Iona hits the road for five straight road games starting next weekend at Marist on Friday (October 6) and Siena on Saturday (October 7).
