HARTFORD, CT - The Iona University men's rowing team opened its 2023-24 campaign in its first regatta under Director of Rowing Ben MacDougald at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta on the Connecticut River. The Gaels represented two varsity 4 boats in the Open 4+ event.
 
Iona's "A" boat featured junior Ethan Megal, senior Thomas Koetzner, sophomore Jack Allen and senior Oliver Sanchez and was coxed by freshman Johanna Moran. the quintet finished fourth in 14:07.30 in the 14-boat race field.  The second boat - with junior Finn Bolger, sophomore Andrew Catinella, junior Daniel Vanadia, and senior Zachary Morocho, coxed by senior Hayden Skigen - was 10th overall in 15:17.45.
 
Iona continues action this fall at the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia in two weeks.
