Iona Water Polo Falls in Final Non-Conference Match-up

BRONX, NY - In the Gaels final non-conference game of the season, Iona fell to cross town rival the Fordham Rams 16-9. Sophomore goalkeeper Aleksander Stavkovic made eight saves, playing all 32 minutes. Trippe Bauman led the Maroon & Gold with three goals, While senior Andrew Miller added two of his own.

Fordham jumped out to a fast start in the first quarter, scoring five goals over the first eight minutes and kept the Maroon & Gold off the board. Luksa Vlasic got the Gaels on the board with the first goal of the second quarter. Fordham answered with two more extending their lead to six. Other goals in the second from Miller, Bauman, and Coby Scanlon kept the Gaels within six entering the halftime break.

Iona was outscored by two in the third goal, Iona's two goals at the hands of Miller, and freshman Jayden Arana. The Gaels entered the final eight minutes down eight, the Rams largest lead of the day. Two goals from Bauman and one from Rastko Jevdjovic outscored the home team by one as the Maroon & Gold fell 16-9.

Iona returns to action this Saturday against conference foe Princeton on the road, scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
