Iona Water Polo Drops Game at Princeton

PRINCETON, NJ - The Iona Gaels got back to conference play today on the road at Princeton. Iona fell to the Tigers 16-8, as they fell to two games under .500 in NWPC play.

Princeton jumped out to a 3-0 lead and kept the Gaels off the scoreboard for the first 6 minutes before Luksa Vlasic found the back of the net for the Maroon & Gold. The Tigers notched one more before the 1st period buzzer and entered the second with a three goal lead. The Gaels offense struggled in the second quarter being kept off the board until less than a minute remained in the first half. Princeton scored five quarter in the second and entered the halftime break up seven. Iona's goal came off the hand of senior Andrew Miller.

Princeton opened the scoring in the second half but Miller answered right back with his second of the day. Trippe Bauman got on the board to keep the deficit at seven, but in the final minutes of the third the Tigers tacked on two more and entered the final quarter up nine. The fourth was the best offensive quarter for the Maroon & Gold, as they outscored the hosts by one, goals came from Luka Nastic, Coby Scanlon, and two to Miller's total.

Iona continues with another NPWC opponent the LIU Sharks; it is scheduled for noon also on the road.
