NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona women's lacrosse earned a dominant 20-6 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University this afternoon. 11 different Gaels found the back of the net with
Amber Brewster led the team with four goals and
Sofia Votto picked up her third win of the season.  Â
GAME SUMMARY
Iona's first quarter was a perfect start, keeping the opposition out of the scoring column and scoring five goals of their own. Junior Micaela FitzPatrick opened the scoring quickly finding the back of the net 22 seconds into the game. Gaels next goal came nearly six minutes later off the stick of Alexa Skoubas. Emily Stewart, Alexa Maggiacomo and Brewster also joined in on the first quarter fun with goals of their own.Â
FitzPatrick recorded her second of the game to start the second quarter giving the Gaels a commanding six goal lead. FDU got on the board three minutes into the second quarter with two unanswered goals trimming the Maroon & Gold lead back four. Iona answered the Knights two goal run with a three goal of their own. After another Knights goal, freshman Maliya Haddock notched her first goal of her career seconds before the halftime buzzer, giving Iona a seven goal lead entering the second half.Â
Freshman Lauren Sweeney started the second half in net. The Gaels and the Knights traded goals for the first 12 minutes of the second half keeping it a seven goal lead for the Maroon & Gold. The first three Iona goals of the second half came from Amber Brewster, Micaela FitzPatrick, and sophomore Lana Ranghelli. To close out the third quarter the Gaels added three more goals off the sticks of Brewster, Haddock, and Laine Walterson.Â
Walterson scored her second of the game to start the 4th quarter as Iona's defense finished the game how they started, keeping the Knights off the board for the second quarter of the game. Iona's last three goals of the game all came from freshman Haddock, Arianna Burns and with her first of her career Lana Mickelson. Â

- Haddock, Ranghelli and Mickelson all scored their first goal of their Iona career's
- Votto and Sweeney combined for 7 saves and allowed three goals each.Â
- All seven free position shots came in the third quarter.Â

- Iona also dominated the draw controls with 17 more than the Knights. (23-6).
- Kira Varada led the team with nine draw controls, one away from 100 in her career.
