PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Iona University volleyball team fell in three sets at Temple to open its 2023 campaign. The Owls took the match 25-16, 25-18, 25-16 on Friday afternoon at McGonigle Hall in the first match of the Cherry and White Challenge.

Sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Wiggins led the Maroon & Gold with seven kills and adding seven digs. Senior outside hitter Greta Stjade posted six kills, 10 digs and a block. Senior right side Morgan Madasz had five kills and a solo block. Senior setter Tamara Pichardo dished out 15 assists and senior libero Hope Matschner had 16 digs in the loss.

Iona completes action in Philadelphia tomorrow when they take on LIU at noon and Lehigh at 4:30 p.m.
