POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Iona University softball team dropped the final game of the weekend series at Marist, 7-1 on Sunday afternoon. Freshman
MJ Nicholson hit her second home run of the season for the lone run of the game for the Maroon & Gold.
GAME SUMMARY
Marist started the game with three runs in the bottom of the first inning on two hits and a pair of Iona miscues.
The Red Foxes added two more runs in the second with three hits and another error by the Gaels to take control of the game. Marist capped its scoring in the third with a leadoff home run and RBI double to right center.
Iona was held to two hits in the first six innings on a second inning single from sophomore
Hailey Guerrero and a sixth inning base knock from freshman
Madison Campeau.
Nicholson got the Gaels on the scoreboard in the seventh with a one-out solo shot over the left field wall.

The Gaels return to Donald E. Walsh field for a four-game homestand beginning with the last non-conference matchup of the year on Tuesday, April 23 at 3 p.m. against Stony Brook.
