JAMAICA, NY - The Iona University volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to LIU in its final contest of the 2024 Jack Kaiser Classic hosted by St. John's. The Gaels fell in their final non-conference matchup of the season 25-11, 25-18, and 25-20.
IONA PERFORMERS
- Senior Kenzie Wiggins led the Gaels with 11 points, posting 10 kills and an ace. She completed a double-double with 11 digs.
- Graduate Grace Ehler posted seven kills and a solo block and hit a team-best .333.
- Freshman Mija Jegers posted five kills and six digs.
- Senior setter Emma Vu recorded 13 assists with two kills and two aces.
- Sophomore libero Ava DeGuzman had nine digs in the loss.
THE OPPONENT.
- Jordan MacDonald led the Sharks with 17.0 points. She had 13 kills, four aces and a block.
- Iremnur Elmas had a 14-kill, 11-dig double double.
- Setter Selina Koc had 29 assists and 10 digs.
UP NEXT
The Gaels begin conference play next Saturday in their 2024 home opener at the Hynes Center when they host defending MAAC Champion Fairfield.
