Balanced Attack Powers Iona MBB Past Princeton 89-69

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Powered by a fast start and seven players scoring nine or more points, the Iona University men's basketball team rolled to an 89-69 victory over Princeton in non-conference action at the Hynes Center. Junior Denver Anglin and graduate Toby Harris each posted 13 points to lead the Gaels to their fourth straight win to open the season.

THE RUNDOWN

Princeton struck first to take a 2-0 lead, but two possessions later the Gaels were in front 4-2 and never trailed again. Iona delivered seven straight points and 14 of the next 16 to build a 14-4 advantage less than seven minutes in. A hook shot in the lane by sophomore Khalil Badru pushed the margin to 20 with 9:30 left in the half, and a three-pointer by Anglin with 2:34 remaining made it 46-19 - Iona's largest lead of the period. Princeton closed the half on an 8-2 spurt, but the Gaels still led 48-27 at the break. The Tigers got as close as 17 in the second half before a nine-point Iona burst in just over a minute effectively put the game away and preserved the 20-point win.
