NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona women's lacrosse team hosted Mount St. Mary's in a battle of the 5-1 (MAAC record) teams for the Gaels final regular season home game. Iona fell 12-7 and fall to 6-8 overall and a 5-2 record in conference.
In today's loss senior Midfielder
Kira Varada notched her 200 career point, becoming just the third Gael in program history with 200 or more career goals. She joins Jaclyn O'Leary and Mary Kate McCormick.
Iona's offense was led by Varada, only Gael to notch more than one goal, with her 26th career hat trick.

Kacie Scarduzio,
Kate Krueger, and
Calen Norton all scored a goal each. Iona assisted on two of the seven goals with Scarduzio having both apples. Iona took 27 shot with 19 on net. The Maroon & Gold 11 draws with Varada and
Amelia Kelley combining for seven of the eleven.
In net red-shirt freshman
Ava Giugliano made saves stops allowing all 12 goals. She added two ground balls and one caused turnover. As a team the Gaels out worked the Mountineers picking up 17 ground balls. Junior
Arianna Burns led with three and five other Gaels picked up two each. Iona caused six turnovers to the opponents nine, Varada had a team high two.
Iona will be on the road for the final game of the season, this Saturday Apr. 19 Iona will battle Sacred Heart for a 4 pm opening draw.
