NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Half of Iona University's 24 athletic programs have released their 2025 fall schedules, now available online at IonaGaels.com.
Men's and women's soccer, cross country, volleyball, and men's water polo will compete in their championship seasons, while men's and women's golf, rowing, and swimming & diving will begin the fall portion of their schedules ahead of their spring championships in 2026.
Non-conference slates for men's and women's basketball, along with spring sports schedules for 10 additional programs, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Men's Soccer
Iona will host eight home contests this fall, including non-conference matchups against Monmouth, Loyola Maryland, and Stonehill. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents visiting Mazzella Field include Saint Peter's, Niagara, Siena, Merrimack, and Mount Saint Mary's.
The non-conference road slate features challenging matchups at the University of Rhode Island on August 21, Villanova University on August 28, and James Madison University on September 23.
The 2025 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will feature a six-team, single-elimination format from November 9 through November 16. All matches will be hosted by the higher seed, with reseeding after each round.
Women's Soccer
The Gaels will play eight home matches this fall, including non-conference contests against Le Moyne and Wagner, and conference matchups with Fairfield, Manhattan, Niagara, Rider, Quinnipiac, and Siena.
The season begins on the road at Temple University on August 14. Following the home opener against Le Moyne on August 17, Iona will face Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey on August 21.
The 2025 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will be held from November 2 through November 9 and follows the same format as the men's tournament, with games hosted by the higher seeds.
Volleyball
The volleyball program will host 15 matches at the Hynes Center during the 2025 season, including two tournaments.
The Iona Invitational will take place on August 29 and August 30 and will feature NJIT, Boston College, and Stonehill. The Iona/Fairleigh Dickinson University Invitational will be split between the Hynes Center and the Rothman Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. This event also includes Columbia and Long Island University.
Iona will play nine of its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponents at home, with Merrimack and Quinnipiac being the only two not visiting the Hynes Center this fall.
The team will also compete in two additional non-conference tournaments: the Seton Hall Classic from September 5 to September 6 and the Towson/Coppin State Invitational from September 12 to September 13.
The 2025 MAAC Volleyball Championship will take place from November 18 through November 24. The No. 3 and No. 4 seeds will host the first-round matches, while the top seed will host the semifinals and final. Pending arena availability, the semifinal and championship rounds will be played on back-to-back days during the November 21–24 window.
Men's Water Polo
The men's water polo team will host seven home games this season, including Northeast Water Polo Conference matchups against Princeton, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Brown, and Long Island University. Non-conference opponents visiting include Wagner and Connecticut College.
Iona will also participate in two early-season tournaments: the 2025 Bruno Classic hosted by Brown University and the 2025 Inland Empire Classic hosted by the University of Redlands and Claremont College in California.
The NWPC Championship will be held at Brown University from November 21 through November 23.
Men's and Women's Cross Country
Iona will host its annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle / Iona University Meet of Champions on Friday, September 12 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, New York.
The regular season also includes a trip to the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri on September 26, which serves as the site of the 2025 NCAA Championship. Iona will also race in the Wisconsin Invitational in Madison.
The postseason begins with the 2025 MAAC Championship on November 1 at Twin Ponds on the FARM in Montgomery, New York. The NCAA Northeast Regional Championship will take place on November 15 at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in New Hampshire, while the NCAA Championship will be held on November 23 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri.
Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving
Iona's swimming and diving programs will host six home meets during the 2025–26 season, including an intrasquad scrimmage on September 25. The highlight of the home slate is the program's annual Homecoming Tri-Meet with Sacred Heart and Wagner.
The Gaels will also compete in the ECAC Winter Championship, where the men's program will look to defend its 2024 title.
The MAAC Championship will return to SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio for the third consecutive year and will be held from February 11 through February 14. Postseason events also include the ECAC Open Championships in late February and the CSCAA National Invitational in March in Ocala, Florida.
Men's Golf
The men's golf team will open its fall season by traveling to Ireland for the 2025 Iona–University College Dublin Challenger's Cup. The annual match-play event will be contested from August 19 through August 21 at Portmarnock Golf Club, County Louth Golf Club, and Royal Dublin Golf Club.
The fall slate features multiple tournaments across the Northeastern United States, including a home event—the inaugural Wykagyl Collegiate—at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, New York on October 27 and October 28.
The 2026 MAAC Championship for men's golf will take place in the spring on April 21 and April 22 at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
Women's Golf
The women's golf program will begin its inaugural season at the Battle at the Creek, hosted by Sacred Heart University. The tournament will take place at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
During the fall semester, Iona will compete in several tournaments across the Northeastern United States. In the spring, the Gaels will travel to events in Pawleys Island, South Carolina and Fleming Island, Florida.
In total, the team will participate in eight tournaments between the fall and spring semesters, culminating in the MAAC Championship in April at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Men's and Women's Rowing
The men's and women's rowing programs will compete in four regattas during the fall season. Their schedule includes the Mohawk Fall Classic in Scotia, New York, the Head of the Riverfront in Hartford, Connecticut, the Head of the Charles in Boston, Massachusetts, and the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The spring schedule will be announced at a later date and is expected to include the Novak Memorial Metropolitan Championships, a home event at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle, along with the MAAC Championship and the IRA National Championship.
