TERRE HAUTE, IN - The Iona University men's cross country team finished 19th in the team standings among a strong 44-school race field at the Pre-National Invitational, competing in the men's 8k blue race at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course. Freshman Duncan Robinson led the Gaels with a 47th-place finish in 23:58.2.
 

IONA PERFORMERS

Robinson paced Iona's contingent, crossing the finish line in under 24 minutes to lead the Gaels' eight competitors. Junior Ollie Boltz followed in 71st place with a time of 24:09.3, while junior Baptiste Cartieaux finished 87th in 24:13.3.
 
Senior Flynn Jennings placed 179th in 24:40.4, and senior Patrick Cantlon rounded out Iona's five scoring runners with a 193rd-place finish in 24:44.4. Sophomore Billy Coogan was close behind in 198th place at 24:45.6. Freshman Reiss Marshall (248th, 25:01.9) and sophomore Jackson Jamison (316th, 25:43.2) completed the Iona lineup.
 

TOP INDIVIDUALS

Tulane's Silas Kiptanui claimed the individual title in 23:17.4, edging Wichita State's Elkana Kipruto, who finished second in 23:18.8. Kipruto's teammate Nicholas Kipchirchir placed third in 23:19.8, followed by Notre Dame's Daelen Ackley in fourth at 23:20.5 and Kentucky's Edward Bird in fifth at 23:21.0.
 

TEAM SCORES

Syracuse, ranked No. 8 nationally, captured the team title with 115 points, narrowly ahead of No. 14 Villanova with 127. No. 15 Notre Dame finished third with 148 points, while Wichita State placed fourth with 212. No. 29 North Carolina rounded out the top five with 243 points, one point ahead of No. 26 Arizona.
 
Iona finished 19th with 563 points, ahead of Penn State (572) and Florida State (603). The competitive field featured six teams ranked in the USTFCCCA Top 30, including Syracuse, Villanova, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Arizona and Utah Valley, which finished 25th.
