NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona University men's basketball team returns to Madison Square Garden for the second consecutive season, meeting St. John's on Sunday, November 8, as the programs renew their New York metropolitan area series at The World's Most Famous Arena.
The matchup completes Iona's 2026-27 non-conference schedule, which features 12 games against opponents from nine conferences before the Gaels begin the heart of Metro Conference play.
The game marks the second straight season the two programs will meet at MSG. Iona and St. John's squared off last December, with the Red Storm earning a the victory.
The 2026-27 meeting brings together two of the most successful men's basketball programs in the New York metropolitan area over the last four decades, with St. John's competing in the BIG East Conference and Iona entering its first season in the newly rebranded Metro Conference.
The programs have met 11 times dating back to 1946, with St. John's holding an 8-3 advantage in the all-time series. Iona has won three of the last five meetings, including a 70-57 victory over the Red Storm at St. John's in the 1995 ECAC Holiday Festival. The teams also met at Madison Square Garden in 2017.

The November 8 matchup highlights a non-conference slate that also includes home games against Vermont, NJIT, Kansas City, FDU and Colgate, along with road contests at Fordham, Hofstra, UMBC, Bryant, Charlotte and Saint Mary's. Iona announced 11 non-conference games and its 20-game Metro Conference slate in August.
TICKET INFORMATION
Single-game tickets for the Iona-St. John's matchup at Madison Square Garden will go on sale soon.
Fans can reserve their spot for the game now through an Iona University basketball season ticket package. Season ticket holders will have access to tickets for the Garden matchup based on their season ticket purchase.
