Biography

ABOUT LEWIS:
  • Will play his final season of NCAA eligibility with the Gaels as a graduate student.
  • Began his career at MAAC-rival Canisius before transferring to Massachusetts.
  • Enters the 2017-18 campaign with 1,007 career points in three seasons.
  • All-MAAC Third Team as a sophomore in 2014-15 following an All-Rookie Team campaign in 2013-14.
  • Will compete in the backcourt for a starting spot during preseason practice.
AS A JUNIOR (2016-17, UMASS):
  • Appeared in 33 games, making eight starts, after sitting out the 2015-16 season per NCAA transfer regulations.
  • Averaged 8.8 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists while playing 23.0 minutes per game.
  • Converted 84.7 percent (61-for-72) of his free throw attempts.
  • Tallied 33 steals on the season.
  • Poured in 20 points (6-14 FG, 4-10 3FG, 4-6 FT) at Ole Miss on Nov. 14.
  • Scored 13 points, dished out two assists, grabbed two boards and had a pair of steals in the win over Holy Cross Nov. 20.
  • Tallied 23 points in a win on Jan. 18 over Saint Joseph's.
  • Post a 14-point outing, which included a 10-of-12 from the free throw line, at Saint Louis on Jan. 25.
  • Notched 16 points, two steals and two assists at George Washington on Feb. 23.
  • Scored the third most points in Mullins Center history with a career-high 37 points along with four rebounds, four steals and two assists against La Salle on Feb. 26 in an 84-71 home victory.
  • Contributed 14 points, including a 9-for-10 finish at the charity stripe, in the Atlantic 10 Championship First Round victory over Saint Joseph's on Mar. 8.
AT CANISIUS:
  • Played in 65 games throughout two seasons with the Golden Griffins, making 52 starts.
  • Averaged 30.4 minutes per game while averaging 11.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
  • Totaled 717 points and 96 steals in two years.
  • Knocked down 138 3-pointers while shooting 34.5 percent from beyond the arc.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2014-15, CANISIUS):
  • All-MAAC Third Team
  • Started all 33 games for the Griffs.
  • Ranked 16th in the MAAC with a team-best 12.5 points per game while adding 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 steals.
  • Finished fourth in the league with 2.3 3-pointers made per game.
  • Converted 75 3-point field goals, tied for fourth most in program history for a single season.
  • Tallied 24 points in a 63-51 win at Lehigh on Nov. 18.
  • Scored a then career-high 31 points at Monmouth on Jan. 2 behind eight 3-pointers, second most in Canisius single-game history.
  • Posted 24 points in a 78-74 victory versus Iona on Jan. 18.
  • Finished with 25 points on Feb. 6 at Manhattan.
AS A FRESHMAN (2013-14, CANISIUS):
  • MAAC All-Rookie Team
  • Became the first Canisius individual to be named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team since 2006-07 (Frank Turner).
  • Averaged 9.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
  • Totaled 303 points, sixth most in Canisius history for a freshman since 1973.
  • Led all MAAC freshmen with 2.0 3-pointers made per-game.
  • Averaged 28.5 minutes per-game, making 19 starts in 32 appearances.
  • Ranked seventh in the MAAC with 1.4 steals per game.
BEFORE CANISIUS (FISHBURNE MILITARY SCHOOL):
  • Played for one season at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, VA.
  • Led Fishburne to the National Prep Championship Tournament.
  • Played the two previous years at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, CT.
  • Averaged 22.2 points per game during his senior season at Northwest.
  • Four-time honor roll student at Northwest.
