AS A SOPHOMORE (2021):

MAAC All-Academic Team selection
Played in 26 games, making 24 starts
Slashed .303/.396/.434 across 76 at bats
Had 23 hits, four doubles, two HR, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored, 11 walks drawn and two stolen bases
Top-three on the team in batting average, slugging percentage and runs batted in
Began the season with a 2-5 game at the plate, scoring twice and plating two runners, in win at Niagara (Mar. 20)
Went 2-4 with a double, a home run and three RBI vs. Canisius (Apr. 10)
Came off of the bench and hit three-run HR to bring Iona within a run of the lead in eventual game three loss vs. Manhattan (May 9)

AS A FRESHMAN (2020):

MAAC Academic Honor Roll honoree
1x MAAC Rookie of the Week
Played in all eight games, starting final seven contests
Reached base in six of eight games
First collegiate HR and four RBI in win over UMBC (Feb. 22)
Homered in second consecutive game (vs. Seton Hall, Feb. 23)
Finished shortened season hitting .391 with two home runs, two doubles and five RBI

Played travel ball with the Semper Fi Bulldogs
2017-18 San Diego City Conference All League Second Team
Won the 2018 Michelle Carew Classic with Cathedral Catholic and was named to the All-Tournament Team
2019 CIF San Diego Section All-State nominee

GET TO KNOW KAELENE:

Why did you choose Iona?: I chose Iona because I loved the team dynamic and it reminded me of home. I felt that the family atmosphere is really important being so far from home, and this team had it. I also loved the coaching staff and could see myself growing as a player and on campus as a student.
Favorite athlete: Bo Jackson
Favorite food: All of them
Nickname: Lene
Biggest accomplishment so far in life: Being the second person to attend college in my family.
Person I admire most: I definitely admire my parents and family the most.
Pregame rituals: I have to untie my cleats after every game I play once I take them off. When I put my uniform on I have to do it in the same order each time I get ready. I have to take short hops before I take ground balls.
