Biography

Chris Merce was named the coordinator of academics in August 2012.  Merce comes to Iona after serving as assistant academic-athletic Coordinator and assistant golf coach at Saint Peter’s University.

Merce will be responsible for the management of the Judge Student-Athlete Center, monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes, coordination of student-athlete progress reports, liaison with all college academic officials and faculty members, assisting in oversight of Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), oversight of the PASS Program (promoting the academic success of student athletes) and sports administrator for appointed teams.

Merce also served as a graduate sssistant for academic support and in the fall of 2010, Merce earned a master’s degree in educational administration and supervision from Saint Peter’s.

Merce spent five seasons as the Peacocks' assistant golf coach, where he played from 2004-08.  Merce was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team on three occasions and represented Saint Peter’s at the 2007 NCAA National Leadership Conference.
