Brandon Irving returns for his second season with the Iona men's basketball program in 2022-23 after being elevated to the role of Video Coordinator in June. He joined the Maroon & Gold the year prior as a graduate manager in June 2021.
Before Iona, Irving worked in basketball operations for the Dallas Mavericks G League affiliate, Texas Legends under head coach Bob MacKinnon, as well as NBA vets, Eric Snow and Zendon Hamilton where the franchise had their winningest season in the 2017-2018 season. Irving assisted in scouting, team practices, and player workouts for Brandon Ashley, Wade Baldwin IV, Kyle Collinsworth, Justin Dentmon, Keith Hornsby, Cory Jefferson, Jalen Jones, Johnathan Motley, Donald Sloan, and Jameel Warney, among others. Brandon was elevated to the Project Manager role for the 2018-2019 season. That season, Irving oversaw the franchise’s internship program while coordinating game-day operations and running Legends sports clinics & youth basketball camps. In 2019, the Legends were named the NBA Gatorade League’s Franchise of the Year.
Later in 2019, Irving joined the University of North Texas men's basketball program as a Graduate Assistant. That season, Irving assisted in scouting, player workouts and overall logistics for the Mean Green. North Texas had two all-conference players and the C-USA player of the year for the first time in school history in 2020. That season, UNT won its first outright conference championship in 31 years and first ever C-USA title while setting a then program record with 14 league wins.
A Houston, Texas native, Brandon received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of North Texas in Recreation, Event & Sport Management in May of 2017. He received his Master's Degree from the University of North Texas in Recreation, Event & Sport Management May of 2021.
