Pat Buckley enters his fourth season with the Iona University men's basketball program and his second as director of basketball operations in 2026-27 after helping the Gaels to an 18-win campaign during the 2025-26 season.
Buckley has become an integral part of the program's day-to-day operations during his time in New Rochelle. After spending his first two seasons as a graduate manager, he was elevated to director of basketball operations prior to the 2025-26 season. In that role, he oversees a wide range of operational responsibilities, including team travel, scheduling, logistics, equipment coordination, team meals, player support services, practice and game preparation, technology management, and analytics workflows.
Throughout his tenure at Iona, Buckley has played a key role behind the scenes in supporting the coaching staff and student-athletes while helping ensure the smooth execution of all aspects of the program's operations.
Buckley arrived at Iona following a four-year playing career at Catholic University in Washington, D.C. During his time with the Cardinals, he appeared in 44 games and made six starts. He totaled 66 points, 68 rebounds, 18 assists, 16 steals, and 14 blocks while contributing to the program both on and off the court.
A standout student-athlete, Buckley earned NABC Honors Court recognition and Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll accolades. He was also a member of the Phi Eta Sigma and Lambda Epsilon Omicron honor societies.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Buckley played high school basketball at Bishop Kenny High School before continuing his academic and athletic career at Catholic.
Buckley graduated from Catholic University with a degree in Business Management and Sales.
