Taliek Brown was named an assistant coach for the Gaels' program by head coach Rick Pitino on May 31, 2022. A standout student-athlete at UConn during his collegiate playing days, Brown came to New Rochelle from his alma mater where he served as Director of Player Development for the last three seasons.

Brown was the captain of UConn's 2004 NCAA National Championship team and remains the program's all-time assists leader.  In his role as Director of Player Development, he had close interaction with the student-athletes, building strong personal relationships with them, while initiating and participating in off-court activities that taught and developed life skills. He also supervised the graduate assistants for the men's program.

A native of Corona, N.Y. in Queens, Brown was a McDonald's All-American out of St. John's Prep and a four-year starting UConn point guard under Jim Calhoun and is the only player in UConn history to score at least 1,000 points (1,039) and hand out at least 700 assists (722).

Brown earned his degree from the University of Connecticut in political science in 2013 and had a 10-year career as a pro player, in the CBA, USBL, and multiple foreign professional leagues.

When his playing career ended, Brown spent time as an assistant coach at LaGuardia Community College in Long Island City and as head coach at August Martin High School in Jamaica, Queens. He also oversaw the TeamFootprintz basketball training program.
