Led the team in scoring with a career-high 11.8 points per game and rebounding with 7.0 boards... Ranked No. 2 in the MAAC in field goal percentage at 58.2%... Emerged into one of the top post presences in the MAAC after a breakout 2007-08 campaign... Led the team as a junior with five double-doubles and a 7.7 rebounds per game average... Finished second on the team in scoring with an 10.9 points per game average.. Had 10 games with 10 or more points and six games with 10 or more rebounds including a season-high 21-point, 16 rebound effort at Niagara on Feb. 16, 2008... One of the strongest players in the MAAC, he ranked fourth in the conference in rebounds... AS A SOPHOMORE (2005-06):
One of seven players to appear in all 31 games in 2005-06... Started all but eight contests... Averaged 5.6 points and was fourth on the team with 4.7 rebounds per game... Third with 19 blocks... Had four double-digit point efforts and eight games with eight or more rebounds... Had six points and seven rebounds in Iona’s thrilling win over No. 22 Iowa State on Nov. 26... Upped his career-high for the second straight game with 13 at Loyola shooting 3-of-4 from the field and a career best 7-of-10 from the free throw line... Had his third straight double-digit effort with 11 at Fairfield to go along with eight rebound d on Feb. 11... Set a new standard for rebounds with nine at Rider on Feb. 15... Matched the total in the loss to Siena on Feb. 23.... Recorded 10 points grabbed five rebounds and set a season-high with two steals in quarterfinal win over Niagara on Mar. 4... Forced to sit out First Round match up with Siena after being ejected in regular season finale against the Saints... Finished up his prep career averaging 18.7 points and 13.2 boards in his senior year... Earned a spot on the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s First Team All-Area squad, as well as the Metro Atlanta Prep Team of the Year, as selected by the Atlanta Tip-off Club... As a junior, averaged 10.7 points, 11.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots... Also lettered in football and track... Son of former Iona All-American Gary Springer, the Gaels’ second all-time leading scorer and third all-time leading rebounder... Committed to Iona in the early signing period.
