Iona University Athletics

David Stickney joins the Iona College Athletics sports medicine staff after spending three years at the University of Bridgeport as Head Athletic Trainer. While at the University of Bridgeport, Stickney was the Co-Director of the East Coast Conference Sports Medicine Committee.
 
Prior to his time at the University of Bridgeport, Stickney was the Head Athletic Trainer for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League, the top affiliate of the New York Islanders, from 2012-18. Before that, Stickney spent five years as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League.
 
Stickney graduated cum laude from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training (CAAHEP accredited) in 2006. He earned his Masters of Science with a concentration in Athletic Training from West Virginia University in 2008.
 
Following his graduation from the University of Maine, Stickney interned with the Pittsburgh Pirates (Spring Training) in Bradenton, Florida and the San Francisco Giants Double-A Team in Norwich, Connecticut.
 
David is also a published author (Non-Surgical Epicondylitis Rehabilitation: A Systematic Review by David Stickney, MS, ATC, PES) and owns 13 different certifications. He is formerly a member of the Maine Athletic Trainers Association, the Athletic Training Students Organization (UMaine) and the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society. Stickney is currently a member of the Connecticut Athletic Trainers Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association.
