Jonathan Stanko joined the Iona College athletic department staff as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications in September of 2015. He will serve as the primary media relations contact for select sports, along with assisting in improving and advancing Iona College’s broadcasting, video production and social media components.
Stanko graduated undergrad from Iona College in May 2014 with a Mass Communications major with a focus on TV/Video, and a minor in political science. Stanko completed his Master's Degree in Sports Media Communications from Iona in May 2020.
Upon his graduation, Jonathan worked for the America East Conference as their Communications Fellow. There he served as the primary media contact for various sports, as well as aiding in the conference’s efforts in video and social media. He served as host and content provider for the College Sports Media Awards nominated AEReport, the America East’s biweekly news segment.
In addition, Jonathan aided the America East in championships, lending his hands in the planning and facilitating activities necessary to ensure the student-athletes experience was as enjoyable as possible.
While attending classes at Iona, Stanko worked for the Iona's Sports Information Department for four years. His duties included producing, blocking and directing video productions for all live sporting events at Iona. He also worked as a reporter and broadcaster within the department, lending his voice to broadcasts of Iona College’s women’s basketball program for three years.
