Trippe Bauman enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Iona men’s and women’s water polo programs in 2026-27, bringing valuable experience to the coaching staff following a standout five-year playing career with the Maroon & Gold.
Bauman competed for the Gaels from 2020-24 and served as a two-time team captain during his career. He finished his time in New Rochelle with 100 career goals, 119 career assists and 219 total points.
His most productive season came in 2023, when he recorded 45 goals and a team leading 60 assists for 105 total points. His 60 assists that season rank ninth all-time in Iona history for a single season. Bauman’s combination of scoring ability and playmaking made him one of the program’s top offensive contributors during his time as a student-athlete.
Now entering his second year as a member of the Iona coaching staff, Bauman brings firsthand knowledge of the program and a strong connection to the student-athletes he now helps mentor as he works with both the men’s and women’s water polo programs.
Prior to arriving at Iona, Bauman played club water polo with the Naval Academy Aquatic Club and was a four-year varsity swimmer at Breakneck High School.
Bauman completed his degree in social work from Iona in 2024.
