Rea enters his third season as an assistant with Iona in 2021.
Rea works directly with Iona's pitching staff, and in his first season with the program in 2019 his group ranked inside the top-five of the league in multiple categories. The Gaels walked the least amount of batters (111), boasted the second lowest earned run average (2.56), owned the third best batting average against (.237) and struck out the fourth most batters (254). Iona's strikeout totals that season were tied for sixth most in program history and the Gaels' 2.54 ERA was the eighth best mark in program history.
Under his tutelage, Kara Zazzaro hurled a no-hitter at Saint Peter's, struck out a program best 17 batters at Monmouth and earned All-MAAC honors in 2019.
