Dowey

Aly Dowey

Iona College lacrosse head coach Lauren Kahn announced Aly Dowey as the new assistant coach in December of 2019. Dowey is now in her second season with the Gaels where she serves as defensive coordinator as well as recruiting coordinator.

Dowey came to New Rochelle after living in the U.K. and as the assistant to the Wales National Team. While with Wales, Dowey served as their defensive coordinator and tallied a 11-4 record over three international tournaments, including a third-place finish at the European Championships and the team’s first ever victory over Israel.

Prior to the U.K., Dowey served as the head coach for Blair Academy (NJ) for three seasons. During her time there, the team held winning records and post-season wins each season. At Blair, Dowey worked with future collegiate players, including those who went on to play for Navy, George Mason, Gettysburg, Trinity and more.

During her playing days, Dowey was a four-year starting defender and senior captain at Bates College. She received her Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Bates in 2015 and her Master’s in Food Biotechnology from the University of Leeds in 2019. Dowey also works as an adjunct instructor within Iona’s chemistry department.
