Adam Whitehead enters his third season on the Iona University men's soccer staff, and was elevated to the associate head coach in 2025.

In his tenure with the Maroon and Gold, he has twenty-three wins, two MAAC Regular Season titles, one MAAC Championship, and one NCAA Tournament Appearences.

In 2019, Whitehead became the Women's First Team Head Coach of the Long Island Rough Riders. During his time with the program he led the team to the 2017 UWS Eastern Conference Championship title and reached the national semi finals for the first time in the league's history. He was also named the 2017 UWS Eastern Conference Coach of the year and was then promoted to Director of all Instructional Soccer programs with the Rough Riders. 

In 2018, he took the jump back to collegiate where he became an women's assistant coach of University of Northwestern Ohio. He helped lead Northwestern Ohio to be the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions. 

In 2019, he joined the staff od SUNY Purchase, by becoming the First Assistant Men's Soccer Coach, where he led the planning and running of practices, and played an integral part of recruiting.The same year he also joined the staff of ENCL Boys (U15-19) and club, where he also led team practices, prepared game day tactics, and prepared post-game review. Whitehead also helped communication between the staff, parents and coaches. 

Whitehead played collegiate soccer career at Binghamtom University, where he was a four-year student-athlete. During his career he finished with 17 career assists, which was the highest total during the program's Division I era and the fourth highest in Bearcats' all-time history.
