Niagara Univ., NY - A late Niagara score resulted in a 1-1 tie for the Iona College men's soccer team on Friday afternoon. The Gaels (6-6-5, 3-3-2) close out the regular season on Sunday at Canisius.

Iona took the lead in the 34th minute of the first half. Fernando Liserra worked a give-and-go with Nicholas Smaldone for his second goal of the season to put the Gaels in front, 1-0.

The Purple Eagles finally evened the score in the 75th minute. Brian Leonard headed in a throw from Billy Gustafson for his first score of the season, and the final 35 minutes of the game were scorless as Iona was forced to settle for a draw.
