RUTGERS DROPS IONA, 66-51

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) -- Ever since J.R. Inman stopped worry about scoring, he has continued to score and started to do other things.

Inman had 14 points and nine rebounds to pace Rutgers to their fourth straight win, 66-51, over Iona Saturday. It was the second straight game Inman has led the Knights in scoring and rebounding, and he leads the team in both categories for the season.

Anthony Farmer added 13 points for Rutgers (5-5), which extended the worst start for the Gaels (0-8) in their history.

Devon Clarke led Iona with nine points, while Jaron Griffin had 11 points for Rutgers and Adrian Hill had 10 points and nine rebounds before limping off early in the second half with a bruised knee.

Rutgers jumped to a 13-1 lead as Iona did not score a field goal in the game's first 5:12. The Gaels gradually battled back into it and pulled to within 29-28 with 2:25 remaining in the first half. Farmer then scored five points in a 7-0 run that gave the Knights a 36-28 halftime advantage.

Rutgers kept the momentum going into the second half, as they expanded the 7-0 run to 14-2 early in the second half to open a 43-30 lead. The Gaels never got the margin under double figures from that point, as Rutgers led by as much as 17 on five separate occasions.

Iona, which shot 34 percent, has lost seven games by double figures.
