Albany, NY - The Iona College men's soccer team played a scoreless game against the University of Albany, ending at 0-0 after two overtime periods. The tie moves the Gaels' season winning percentage up to .500.
Iona and Albany matched each other in total shots with 10 apiece. Despite taking one shot during each overtime period, the Gaels weren't able to uneven the score. Kicks by Felipe Faundez, Nicholas Smaldone, and Michael Ferenci accounted for the team's three shots on goal. Goalkeeper Nils Binstock guarded Iona's net for the full 110 minutes.
Although no balls crossed the goal line, the game was not lacking action. Four yellow cards were given throughout the match; the first going to Fabian Contreras in the 23rd minute, and the rest to Albany players.
The Gaels are back in action this Friday as they take on Columbia at Mazella Field.
