Poughkeepsie, NY - Ben Williams and Aly Lo connected on a second-half goal as the Gaels' matchup against Marist ended in a 1-1 tie following double overtime. The game was Iona's third this season to go into extra periods and the squad is now 1-1-1 in overtime play.
After an even first half, the Red Foxes took a 1-0 lead on Jamison Allegra's first goal of the year. Allegra received a pass from teammate Steve Fantuzzo and was able to beat Iona netminder Nils Binstock for the goal.
The Gaels pulled even five minutes later following a Michael Ferenci corner kick. Williams took control of the inbounded ball and tapped it to Lo, who scored his ninth goal of the season. Iona's defense successfully held off any Marist attacks throughout the remainder of regulation and through both overtime periods. Despite nine shots taken in the second half, and two in each overtime, the Gaels weren't able to uneven the score.
Lo had a team-leading three shots on goal followed by two from Julian Grajales. Binstock played all 110 minutes in front of the net, making five saves.
Iona returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 28), travelling to Siena for a 1:00 contest.
