New Rochelle, NY - Freshman Anda Ivkovic was the quiet breakout leader of the afternoon, scoring a career-high 23 points to drive the Iona College women's basketball team toward an 82-57 victory over Monmouth at the Hynes Athletics Center. The Gaels (5-6) have now won four of their last six contests and their last three at home, while the Hawks (1-9) dropped their fifth straight.
Ivkovic went 9-11 from the field including 3-4 from behind the three point arc. Tiara Headen added 13 points and six rebounds, followed by Thazina Cook's 12 points and four boards. Jennifer bender led Monmouth in scoring with 18 points while Marisa Jimenez netted 14. The Hawks' 57 points were the fewest allowed by Iona this season.
The Gaels are set to travel to Hawaii following the Christmas holiday, where they will play two games in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational. The will first play William & Mary on Dec. 28.
