New Rochelle, NY - The No 13 St. Francis (NY) men's water polo team got five goals from Botond
Szalma and Stepan Gencich on their way to a 17-11 victory of the Iona
College men's water polo team at the Hynes Athletic Center Pool. The
Gaels (2-6) got within 3 goals in with 7:36 left in the 3rd quarter but the Terriers pushed ahead with 6 goals to finish out the
quarter and build a 7 goal lead, their largest lead of the match.
Brendan Barrow led the Gaels with 5 goals on 6 shots. Patrick St. Cin and Joe Przekota each tallied 2 goals and St. Cin had 2 assists, a steal and a block while Przekota had 3 assists and drew 3 kickouts.
The Gaels got 13 saves from their two netminders with Grant Keissling making 7 saves and Eric Konzem adding 6 saves.
The Gaels return to action this weekend as they head to the Conn College Invite. Iona will face Penn State Behrend and Queens College on Saturday, September 22nd and Brown and Conn College on Sunday, September 23rd.
