Box Score New Rochelle, NY - Rider used a late 18-7 second half run in defeat of the Iona College men's basketball team in MAAC action at the Hynes Center. The Gaels (5-12, 1-4 MAAC) dropped their fifth straight contest. Senior

In a closely contested conference battle, the two teams played to 11 ties and 12 different lead changes in the contest. The Broncs (10-6, 3-2 took their largest lead of the first half when Patrick Mansell's three pointer put the visitors ahead 23-17 with 4:58 remaining. Iona scored the game's next 14 points to take an eight point lead - its largest of the game - at 2:22. Sophomore

Dexter Gray and
Devon Clarke added another during the run. Rider climbed back to within two points at halftime.
The second half mirrored the first with back-and-forth action through the first 13+ minutes. After Clarke hit two free throws to put Iona ahead 57-54 with 7:29 remaining, the Broncs scored 12 straight to gain a commanding 66-57 lead with 3:26 to play. The Gaels got to within five points on two occasions, but could not overcome the deficit.
Camper tallied 13 points, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds in the loss. Gray had 12 points and recorded a season-high nine rebounds for the seventh time this season.
Gary Springer - assigned to the tough task as Rider senior Jason Thompson's primary defender - added eight points, eight boards and a career-high four steals. Griffin had nine points, all in the first half.
Thompson - the MAAC's Preseason Player of the Year - was held under his season average with 15 points, but tallied 14 boards to lead the Broncs. His brother, Ryan added 14, while junior guard Harris Mansell tallied a game-high 18 in the win.
The Gaels return to action after a short rest facing Saint Peter's at home on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
