Box Score New Rochelle, NY- The Iona College men's basketball team suffered a 59-50 defeat at the hands of Marist in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center. Sophomore Milan Prodanovic had 10 points to lead the Gaels (7-14, 3-6 MAAC).

The Maroon & Gold led the Red Foxes for all but 1:10 in the first half but could not open up more than a five point advantage at any point. Prodanovic's three-pointer at 10:45 gave the Gaels a 15-10 lead. Iona recorded nine steals and forced 14 turnovers in the first period but shot just 9-of-35 (25.7%) in taking a 21-20 lead into halftime.

The second half saw seven ties and 11 lead changes, but a late push by Marist led the visitors to the win. Dejuan Goodwin hit a three pointer at the 8:48 mark to put the Red Foxes up for good. Two Prodanovic free throws at 4:53 cut the deficit to just two points but Iona was able to record just one bucket the remainer of the way. Marist ended the final five minutes with a 9-2 run.

Senior Kyle Camper and junior Gary Springer had nine points each. Freshman Rashon Dwight had seven rebounds to lead the Gaels.

Marist freshman Jay Gavin had a game-high 16 points, doing most of his damage from the free throw line with an 8-for-12 showing. Goodwin added 13 while senior Ryan Stilphen had 12.

The Gaels complete a stretch of five January home games on Sunday afternoon when they take on Siena at 2:00 pm.
