Milan Prodanovic's 10 points led the Gaels in the loss.
The two teams traded 9-2 runs to begin the game as the score was deadlocked at 11 at the 13:55 mark. The Gaels (5-11, 1-3 MAAC) stretched its run to 20-5 on two Prodanovic free throws to take a 22-14 lead with 3:57 to play. Loyola (6-8, 2-2 MAAC) chipped away and closed the margin to 25-22 at the half.
In the second half, Iona scored its first three points on senior

Rashon Dwight to lead 28-26. The Greyhounds 14-0 run over the next 5:22 to take a commanding 40-28 lead in the contest. Sophomore
De'Shaune Griffin got the Gaels to within eight points with two free throws with 2:32 remaining but the Maroon & Gold would not get any closer.
The Gaels shot just 33.3% for the game. After being held under 30% in the first half, Loyola shot 60.0% in the second, outscoring Iona 41-26 in the frame. Prodanovic had 10 points, with the assistance of a 5-for-6 day from the free throw line but he was the only player to have any success from the stripe as rest of the team combined for 6-of-14 in the loss. Griffin and Clark each had nine points off the bench for Iona.
Loyola's Gerald Brown and Michael Tuck each had double-doubles in the win. Brown had a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds while Tuck had 10 and 10 for the Greyhounds.
The Gaels return to action at home on Friday when they host Rider. The team looks to get back on track with some home cooking as five of the next six contests will take place at the Hynes Center.
