NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Senior Anna McLean had her second double-double in three games this season with 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Iona College women's basketball team in a 76-54 win over Pacific. The Gaels improved their record to 2-1 while the Tigers dropped to 1-2.
Thazina Cook also scored in double figures, picking up 15 points along with six rebounds and two assists. Rookie Diana Hubbard went 2-2 from three-point range and was a perfect 2-2 from the free throw line to amass eight points in her second career appearance. Suzi Fregosi dished out a game high eight assists while also adding five points and three boards.
Jennifer Fath led Pacific with nine points in the loss, followed by eight each from Gretchen Tiernan and Jasmine Dana. The Gaels held a 44-32 rebounding advantage and had a 27-point production off the bench.
Iona will play its first game away from home on Sunday against BIG EAST opponent Notre Dame. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm at Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
