JERSEY CITY, NJ - The Iona College women's basketball team lost a 57-52 road match-up against Saint Peter's. The loss was the second straight for the Gaels and dropped the squad to 6-7 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play (13-11 overall).
Freshman Kristina Ford was Iona's top scorer with 15 points, and added eight rebounds, two blocks, and a steal. Junior Thazina Cook had her seventh double-double of the year, contributing 11 points and 12 boards along with a team-best five steals.
For the Peahens, Tania Kennedy led all players with 16 points, followed by 14 from Sakara House.
The Maroon & Gold was plagued by shooting trouble in the first half, connecting on just 16.1% of its field goal attempts. Despite outscoring Saint Peter's 35-33 in the second half, Iona was unable to make up the seven-point halftime defecit.
The Gaels continue action away from home, playing at Manhattan on Feb. 9. The 6:00 pm tilt will be televised on MSG as the first game of an all-Iona-Manhattan double header.
