Box Score BUFFALO, NY - The Iona College men's basketball team dropped a 77-65 decision to Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Koessler Center. Sophomore
Scott Machado scored 17 points to lead the Gaels.
The Gaels jumped out to a quick start with a 14-7 lead just under five minutes into the game. Canisius responded with a decisive 14-0 run over the next six minutes. Machado got the Gaels within four points with 3:05 remaining but the Griffs responded with nine of the game's next 10 points and took a 10 point advantage into the break.
Machado was 6-of-12 from the field with one three-pointer and was 4-of-6 from the line. He added four assists and three rebounds. Rookie
Kyle Smyth posted 14 points and sophomore
Jermel Jenkins added 13 in the loss.
Canisius' junior Greg Logins scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half. He was supported by senior Frank Turner's 18 points in the contest.
The Gaels continue their season-long six-game road trip next Saturday when they travel to Lawrenceville, NJ to take on Rider at Alumni Gym.
