BUFFALO, NY - The Iona College men's swimming and diving team competed Saturday morning in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference meet with Canisius. The Gaels were only able to pick up five event victories and fell by the score of 130-107.
Justin Grigull picked up the first Iona win of the day, taking first in the 200 yd free with a time of 1:46.34. Garvey was fourth for the Gaels with a time of 1:52.95.
Raymond Joyal was sixth with a time of 1:58.13.
In the 50 yd free,
Seth Tasman took second with a time of 22.26. Weir was the next Iona finisher, coming in fourth with a time of 22.97. Stiles was sixth with a time of 23.82.
Chris Yacobacci got the Gaels back in the win column with a first place finish in the 200 yd IM. Yacobacci finished with a time of 1:59.51. Stelnicki was fourth with a time of 2:05.15 while
Ryan Bacci was fifth with a time of 2:07.49.
Kotonias took second for the Gaels in the 200 yd fly with a time of 2:03.75. O'Reilly was third with a time of 2:07.43 while
Michael Wu was fourth with a time of 2:14.97.
Tasman picked up a win in the 100 yd free, touching the wall with a time of 48.91. Weir was third with a time of 50.43.
Kristian Bocage was fifth with a time of 51.43.
Porazzo finished second in the 200 yd backstroke with a time of 2:03.03. Wallace was right behind in third with a time of 2:05.33.
Curtis Cello was fifth with a time of 2:10.62.
Grigull finished second in the 500 yd free with a time of 4:49.23. De Leone took third with a time of 5:01.51 while Kotonias was fourth with a time of 5:02.58.
Yacobacci picked up another win with a first place finish in the 200 yd breaststroke with a time of 2:13.38.
Chris Giovine was third with a time of 2:17.18 while Garvey was fourth with a time of 2:19.98.
In the meet's final event, the relay team of Grigull, De Leone, Yacobacci and Tasman took first in the 400 yd free relay with a time of 3:18.51. The relay of Porazzo, Creighton, Joyal and Wallace was third with a time of 3:23.19.
