BALTIMORE, MD - The Iona College men's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the quad-team H2ounds Invitational Saturday afternoon at Mangione Pool at Loyola University Maryland. The Gaels were able to outscore Marist 213-145 and Saint Peter's 193-160 but fell to Loyola 252.5-105.5.
In the 100 yd butterfly, Tasman finished fifth with a time of 52.92.
Trevor Creighton was right behind in sixth with a time of 53.73 while
Tyler Elfert was ninth with a time of 54.43 and
Patrick O'Reilly was 10th with a time of 54.55.
Grigull picked up the second Iona win with a first place finish in the 200 yd freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 1:40.65. De Leone was seventh in the event with a time of 1:48.00 while Hudson was 13th with a time of 1:51.51.
Porrazzo broke the school record in the 100 yd backstroke, finishing third with a time of 52.43.
Mark Wallace was fifth with a time of 52.98 while
Michael Wu took 13th with a time of 58.81.
Stelnicki was sixth in the 100 yd breaststroke with a time of 59.27.
Chris Giovine was right behind in seventh with a time of 1:00.80.
Ryan Bacci took ninth with a time of 1:01.20 while Bocage finished 12th with a time of 1:03.06.
Kotonias finished fifth in the 1650 yd freestyle with a time of 16:44.93.
Zach Benoit was sixth with a time of 16:51.37 while De Leone was eighth with a time of 17:28.40.
In the 200 yd medley relay, the relay of Wallace, Yacobacci, Creighton and Tasman finished fourth with a time of 1:37.40. The relay of Porrazzo, Stelnicki, O'Reilly and Bocage took sixth with a time of 1:39.68.
In the 200 yd backstroke, Porrazzo took fourth with a time of 1:56.68. Wallace finished sixth with a time of 2:00.02 while
Raymond Joyal was 13th with a time of 2:08.93.
Grigull picked up another win, this time in the 100 yd freestyle with atime of 46.71. Weir finished 12th with a time of 48.85 while Tasman was 13th with a time of 48.88.
Giovine took fourth in the 200 yd breaststroke with a time of 2:09.99. Yacobacci was right behind in fifth with a time of 2:11.05 while Bacci was seventh with a time of 2:15.18.
O'Reilly took eighth in the 200 yd butterfly with a time of 2:02.63.
Jay Wegimont took 10th in the event with a time of 2:03.71 while Creighton was 11th with a time of 2:03.93.
In the final event, the 400 yd freestyle relay, the team of Porrazzo, Wallace, De Leone and Weir took fourth with a time of 3:15.18. The team of Grigull, Hudson, Yacobacci and Tasman was just behind in fifth with a time of 5:15.56.
The Gaels take a break from competition until Jan. 18, when they host Saint Peter's at the Hynes Center. Prior to that, the Gaels will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico for their annual Intersession Training Trip.
