HAMDEN, CT - The Iona College men's soccer team defeated Quinnipiac by a score of 2-1 in exhibition action on the road. Both of Iona's goals came in the first half by forward
Victor Munoz.
Munoz scored his first goal off a well struck through ball by
Julian Grajales out of the central midfield. Munoz had a one touch finish to beat the Quinnipiac goalkeeper to the ball right before the top of the eighteen yard box. Munoz scored his second goal after capitalizing on a critical mistake by Quinnipiac's midfield playing a ball back to their own goal.
Iona's defense posted a strong game, anchored by senior captain
Roberto Hernandez-Raaen at center back. Grajales also had an impeccable game going forward for the Gaels, where midfielder
Mario Rios was feeding off of him very well. Goalkeepers
Jesse Fullerton and
Michael Jordan combined to cover the net for the Maroon & Gold.
