WEST HARTFORD, CT - The Iona College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Hartford in non-conference action on Thursday evening.
The Hawks (4-2-3) scored both goals in the first half, leading to a 12-4 advantage in shots. Natasha Douglas scored the first tally of the night in the 18th minute past Iona junior
Trista Rivera. The hosts added an insurance marker before the half in the 35th minute with a hard pass from Caroline Dixon to Amanda Peireira.
Although neither side scored in the final frame, Iona (2-5-2) pressured the Hawks with four shots.
Rivera made five saves in the loss and Hartford netminder Erin Quinlan made three saves all in the second half to preserve the victory. Junior
Laura Jackson led the Gaels with two shots and freshman
Amanda Cantos had one shot.
The Gaels have now completed their non-conference schedule and will open MAAC play next Friday at Loyola, followed by a Sunday afternoon tilt with Rider.
