BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY - The Iona College men's water polo team fell to St. Francis Brooklyn 14-7 Wednesday evening in a midweek CWPA North conference matchup on the road.
Iona found itself in an early hole as the Terriers outscored the Gaels 4-2 in the first quarter. St. Francis would continue to distance itself in the second, outscoring Iona 4-1 to take an 8-3 lead into half. In the third, Iona would get three goals but the Terriers scored four more to take a 12-6 lead before adding two more in the fourth to take the 14-7 win.
The Gaels were led by two goals from junior Jake Lloyd and sophomore Zach Presto. Senior Matthew Stelnicki and juniors Kyle Elmore and James Ramaley had one goal each. Senior Stefen Hill recorded two saves.
The Gaels are back in action Saturday, when the squad takes on Harvard at 5:00 pm.
