HAMDEN, CT - The Iona College men's soccer team opened up its 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference slate playing to a 0-0 draw with Quinnipiac Saturday afternoon at QU Soccer Field.
The Gaels now stand at 3-4-2 overall on the season, 0-0-1 in MAAC play. The Bobcats are now 2-3-4, 0-0-1 MAAC.
Iona was outshot 17-8 in the contest, with the Bobcats holding a 9-5 edge in attempts on goal. Senior Franklin Castellanos was credited with a team high four shots in the game, including two on net.
Iona redshirt freshman goalkeeper Julian Petrello recorded a career high nine saves in the contest. Quinnipiac goalkeeper Borja Angoitia had five saves for the Bobcats.
The Gaels are back in action Wednesday afternoon they travel to Monmouth for a 3:00 pm start.
