NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College women's basketball team was unable to make a second half rally for a second straight day, and fell to Bowling Green 51-50 in its second game of the 2013 Iona College Tip-Off Tournament.

Junior guard Damika Martinez scored a game high 25 points, while sophomore guard Aaliyah Robinson tallied 14 points and knocked down a game high four three-pointers. Senior center Sabrina Jeridore and sophomore forward Joy Adams each had ten rebounds for the Maroon & Gold.

A late 11-4 run with the game tied at 16 in the final six-plus minutes of the first period helped the Falcons corral a seven point halftime lead, 30-23.

In the second half, Iona would be able to slowly cut into the Falcons' lead until Martinez's jumper with 1:22 left gave the Gaels a 48-47 lead. Bowling Green answered 26 seconds later on a layup by Alexis Rogets to go ahead by one. A Martinez jumper by Martinez with 36 seconds remaining pushed Iona to a one point lead before Jillian Halfhill dropped in a layup with 18 seconds that turned out to be the game winner.

Rogers led Bowling Green with a double double on 15 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Halfhill ended up with 10 points. The Falcons were also able to pull down 13 offensive rebounds, including nine in the second half.

Iona is back in action Tuesday, when it travels to Queens, NY for a 7:00 pm tipoff at St. John's.
