WSOC Allows Three Second-Half Goals In Loss

Towson, Md. – Three second-half goals, including a pair by Emily Barnes sparked a 3-0 victory for Towson over the Iona College women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon.

Barnes finished the game with five points, scoring the first two times and adding an assist on the insurance marker. Barnes' first goal came in the 51st minute off a header. The striker then attacked again with her second goal of the contest four minutes later on a hard strike from 16 yards away.

Towson (1-1) added their third goal of the game in the 65th minute, as Barnes set up Katie Ponce for her first of the season.

Iona (0-2) senior netminder Trista Rivera made five saves on the afternoon, but the hosts finished with a 15-2 edge in shots.

The Gaels head home in preparation for a three-game homestand, with the home opener on Thursday against Hartford at 3 pm.
