NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup to Delaware 3-0 Wednesday afternoon at Mazzella Field.

The Blue Hens got on the board quickly, scoring in the third minute. Just outside the Iona
box, Jaime Martinez found teammate Joe Dipre, who put his shot from 18 yards out into the
right side of the Iona net past goalkeeper Julian Petrello for his third goal of the season.

With the Gaels looking to head to the locker room with just a one goal deficit, Delaware was
able to crack the scoreboard in the final minute of play in the first. Martinez was able to
break through the Iona defense on the right side, got a pass from Guillermo Delgado and
blasted a shot into the left side of the net for his third tally of the year.

Early in the second half, Delaware put the contest away with its third and final goal of the
contest. Dipre got a feed from Delgado and connected from 15 yards out in the lower right
corner of the Iona net.

The Gaels had their best scoring opportunity in the 29th minute when junior Ignacio Maganto
put a header towards the top of the net but was stop by a leaping save by Delaware goalie
Bill Boyer.

Overall in the contest, the Gaels were outshot 16-11 by their CAA counterparts, led by senior
Samuel Adjei's four shots. Petrello made six saves in the contest while Boyer made four
saves in his season debut.

Iona looks to snap its current three game losing streak Saturday when it welcomes Fairleigh
Dickinson to Mazzella for a 2:00 pm kickoff.
