JOHNSON CITY, TN - Iona College women's basketball senior guard Damika Martinez scored 29 points, and became the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference all-time leader in three-point field goals, in a 76-64 loss to East Tennessee State University Monday evening at Brooks Gymnasium.

Martinez connected on 10 field goals, including three from behind the arc, moving her total to 268 career threes, jumping past the previous mark of 267 held by Amanda Cavo of Canisius College.

Junior forward Joy Adams scored 17 points, and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Junior Aaliyah Robinson scored 14 points as the trio combined for 93.7% of the Iona scoring,

After matching a season high with 42 points in the first half, Iona was outscored 44-22 in the second half. The Buccaneers shot 73.9% from the field in the second 20 minutes of play on their home court.

In a first half that saw four ties and 13 lead changes, Iona used a 15-4 run over the final 3:53 of the period to take a 42-32 lead into intermission.

The Bucs opened the second half with a 23-2 run, taking a 55-44 lead with 11:31 remaining. Trailing by 12, 60-48, with 8:32 left, the Gaels cut the lead to five, 62-57, with a 9-2 charge of their own.

ETSU answered with six of the game's next eight points, before getting its lead back to double digits with 2:35 remaining on the clock. Five ETSU players scored in double figures, led by Tianna Tarter's 16 points.

The Gaels, 4-7 on the year, resume MAAC action Friday evening when they welcome Monmouth to the Hynes Center for a 7:00 pm tip.
