Laury Selected By Sevens In First Round of NBA D-League Draft

NEW YORK, NY  - With the eight selection of the first round of the 2015 NBA Development League Draft, the Delaware 87ers selected Iona College men's basketball graduate David Laury. Laury will look to continue his professional career with D-League of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Laury originally signed professionally with Yesilgiresun Belediye Turkish Basketball League but returned to the United States in October. He is the reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Year after averaging 20.1 points and 9.5 rebounds for the Gaels last season.

The 87ers or "Sevens" selected seven players in this year's draft and retain the rights to Laury, former St. John's standout Rysheed Jordan, Auburn's Chris Denson, USC Upstate's Ty Greene, CS Fullerton's Alex Harris, and Cleveland State's Marlin Mason

NBA D-League training camp rosters are comprised of drafted players along with returning, affiliate, draft-rights and local tryout players and cannot exceed 17 total players. Teams had to select at least five players in the draft and all players selected are invited to training camp.

For the fifth consecutive year, all 19 NBA D-League teams and the NBA D-League headquarters in New York participated in the Draft.

The Sevens begin their 2015-16 NBA D-League slate Saturday, Nov. 14 on the road against the Grand Rapids Drive. The team returns home to face the Canton Charge for its home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 17.  The Sevens play their home games at the Capenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware in Newark.
